We’ve just seen Elijah Wood reduce a 7ft Orc named Uzgahk to tears and surprisingly it has nothing to do with Lord of the Rings. Instead, the Orc in question is feeling rejected after discovering that Elijah has grown bored with his old RPG and is spending his time with AFK Arena instead. Super Trench Attack! is a twin-stick shooter with a unique pixel art style and tons of goofy humor. It’s not particularly challenging or very long, but it is fun while it lasts and packs a bit more depth than you might think.
Gameplay: The game is a basic top-down shooter with some shooting galleries thrown in for good measure.
Graphics: The pixel art visuals are detailed and often quite humorous.
Sound: The game features exaggerated sound effects along with some fitting music

One of the games that we are looking forward to the most next year is Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood. It’s an action-RPG from NACON and Cyanide where players get to take control of a werewolf named Cahal who has been forced into exile. His only goal is to put an end to Endron, the petroleum subsidiary for the mega-corporation Pentex. Not only are they responsible for all his rage and violence, but Endron is also a constant threat to Gaia, Mother Earth. A brand new trailer was revealed to coincide with Gamescom and it reveals a little more about the life and past of Cahal

Horizon Zero Dawn started as a Playstation 4 exclusive a few years back but makes the transition to PC in this complete edition, which includes The Frozen Wilds expansion. Apart from the technical issues affecting some players, it is a beautiful looking game with a stunning open world to explore. The combat against the many different robotic foes remains thrilling throughout and the game is also not lacking in terms of things to do and places to visit. It can become a little repetitive at times and some of the design elements are a little dated, but overall we had fun from start to finish with this game.
Gameplay: The game world is huge, but it’s fun to explore and more than enough to keep players busy.
Graphics: With the right hardware this game looks downright amazing at times.
Sound: Decent voice acting and a great soundtrack

Since Dragon Age: Origins – Awakening is an expansion instead of a full-blown sequel it’s not quite as lengthy or epic as the original game. However, it’s still a great game with plenty to offer RPG fans. The new party members are just as good as the original ones and the inclusion of new class specializations, spells and abilities also make the combat more interesting. If you were a fan of Origins, then you won’t want to miss out on Awakening.
Gameplay: More of the same compared to Origins, but still fun.
Graphics: The visuals are still good, albeit very bloody.
Sound: Good music, sound effects, and voice acting

The Witcher is a huge game with plenty to see and do, but there’s also plenty of padding and tedium to wade through in the process. It features an interesting protagonist and the dark fantasy setting makes for a nice change of pace. The “Enhanced Edition” updates a lot of things in the original release that was lacking, such as the animations and writing, but it is still far from perfect. Still, those who have the patience to put up with its quirks will enjoy the experience.
Gameplay: Does things a little differently from traditional action RPGs, but it is still fun despite some tedium.
Graphics: Some of the visual elements look great, but some of the character models still look downright ugly.
Sound: The soundtrack is very good, but the voice acting is a mixed bag

The Shadowrun license lends itself perfectly to an in-depth and complex role-playing experience, but unfortunately, it feels like Shadowrun Returns just skims the surface. The story is interesting enough, and there are a handful of great characters to interact with, but at times, it does feel like the game was dumbed down a little too much for casual audiences. The 2D artwork looks great, and the soundtrack is very atmospheric, but we were left wanting more by the end of the 12-hour campaign.
Gameplay: The game is a lot of fun but not as in-depth as we had hoped.
Graphics: The 2D artwork looks great, but the 3D character models could have been better.
Sound: While it lacks voice acting, the soundtrack fits the game perfectly

While Pokemon Sword doesn’t quite live up to the expectations of Pokemon fans, it is still a very enjoyable title. It does lack half of the Pokemon in the National Pokedex but features plenty of new ones as well as some interesting features, such as Dynamaxing. The story is a little weak, but the Pokemon battles are as enjoyable as always and the gym battles are some of the best in the series. As long as you don’t mind the fact that not all the Pokemon are present in this outing and that the game is maybe a little too easy you will have fun with this title.
Gameplay: It is still a lot of fun as a Pokemon title, but doesn’t quite live up to its high expectations.
Graphics: The game looks great but not as great as some of the other Nintendo Switch titles.
Sound: The lack of voice acting is disappointing, but the music and sound effects are good

Galactrix tries to improve on the classic Puzzle Quest gameplay, but falls far short in a lot of areas. The story mode is not very engaging and the game squanders a lot of its potential. At every turn, we encountered something that could have been good if it was implemented properly, which is a pity. The core gameplay is still addictive but becomes tiresome far sooner than the original ever did. Add to this some technical issues and you have a game that is hard to recommend.
Gameplay: The basic elements are addictive, but you have to put up with a lot of tedium.
Graphics: Not bad, but nothing stands out as great.
Sound: The soundtrack is decent, but everything else is pretty forgettable

It’s no exaggeration to say that Android enthusiasts have been casting jealous glances in the direction of Apple ever since the release of Pascal’s Wager. The Dark Souls-inspired action RPG was released on iOS earlier this year where it made quite an impression. However, the wait is almost over for Android fans as Pascal’s Wager will soon be making available on their favorite platform too
