Battle Fantasia -Revised Edition-

Battle Fantasia -Revised Edition-

The varied roster of interesting characters alone makes it hard to dislike Battle Fantasia –Revised Edition- and the newcomer friendly gameplay is also a plus. It doesn’t quite have the depth demanded by veterans and the pace is also considerably slower than other titles by Arc System Works, but it still has plenty to offer. It is a very accessible beat ‘em up and offers a great way for newcomers to dip their toes in the genre.

Gameplay: The character roster is small, but the game is accessible enough for newcomers to jump in and have fun.

Graphics: Although improved the visuals still show their age compared to more modern fighting games.

Sound: The over the top Japanese voice acting fits the game perfectly and the background tunes are quite good too

Poncho (Delve Interactive)

Poncho (Delve Interactive)

Just like any 2D platform game with a shadow motif will probably be compared to Limbo for the foreseeable future, PONCHO is inevitable going to draw comparisons to Fez. From the title and vibrant pixel art visuals to the chiptune soundtrack and world shifting gameplay mechanics there are plenty of similarities. However, we spent some time playing this parallax platformer and it definitely has a unique identity of its own

Quern – Undying Thoughts by Zadbox Entertainment

The point & click adventure genre has seen a resurgence in recent years thanks to indie developers, but we haven’t seen many classic Myst-style puzzle adventures. This is about to change thanks to Zadbox Entertainment and their first major title, Quern – Undying Thoughts. Influenced by the works of Jules Verne and inspired by the visual style of the Myst series, Quern is a first person puzzle adventure where players get to explore a mysterious island

Otome fans will already be familiar with the big names like Otomate, Voltage and Reject. That is why Weeev turned to Kickstarter for their debut title, Purrfectly Ever After. In case the name didn’t give it away already, it is a feline themed visual novel starring cute characters and a romantic story

Turmoil (Gamious)

Turmoil (Gamious)

I never thought that I would be up until the early hours of the morning playing a simulation about the 19th century North American oil rush, but thanks to Gamious that is exactly what happened. Their title, Turmoil, is a tongue-in-cheek take on the genre, but it is still a rather unusual (and very cleverly titled) game

Meet Shin – One Of The Bachelors From Amnesia: Memories

Meet Shin – One Of The Bachelors From Amnesia: Memories

Idea Factory International unveiled some new screenshots from the upcoming release Amnesia: Memories™. The images feature Shin, one of the bachelors that the protagonist in the game will encounter. He is a quiet and reserved young man who has a bit of a dark past, which means he is unwilling to wear his heart on his sleeve. Apparently only true love can solve the mystery behind his hardened heart and it is up to players to discover whether childhood friendship can blossom into romance

Fatshark, the independent developer behind titles such as Lead and Gold, War of the Roses, and Krater are hard at work on their next game, Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide. However, they need a little help naming one of the weapons in the game and are looking to reward fans for lending assistance

Knee Deep

Knee Deep

One suicide, three investigators and a whole town of shady characters to question. That about sums up Knee Deep, but the focus on conversations, intriguing story and unique visual presentation definitely make it worth a second look. It is more of a visual novel than a typical point & click adventure, but will definitely hook anyone who loves a good story and memorable characters.

Gameplay: The focus of the game is on the story and not puzzle solving, so expect plenty of conversations.

Graphics: Character models look a little stiff, but overall the visual style works well.

Sound: No voice acting, but the soundtrack is very good
