Wonder Parade Announced For Nintendo Switch And PC

Mobile gamers might already be familiar with Wonder Parade, the rhythm game by Studio Quare. The game was released for mobile devices back in 2017, which means it will be celebrating it’s 2 year anniversary at the end of August, 2019. To celebrate this milestone, the mobile version of the game will receive an update as well as a 50% discount on August 31st, 2019. However, the real exciting news is that Nintendo Switch and PC owners will soon be able to join in on the fun as well

Rock Band Unplugged

Rock Band Unplugged

Developer: Harmonix / Backbone Entertainment | Publisher: MTV Games | Release Date: 2009 | Genre: Rhythm Game | Website: Official Website Seeing as Rock Band on console is a peripheral based music game that is played via plastic guitars, drums & microphones it is surprising that a PSP port was actually attempted. What is even more surprising is how well it [...]
Muse Dash

Muse Dash

Muse Dash might be a mobile port, but it is also one of the most adorable looking and addictive rhythm action games on PC. The art style is extremely polished and it also features an incredible soundtrack. The controls are basic enough to draw in newcomers to the genre, but playing some of the faster songs on higher difficulty settings can also provide veterans with a challenge. You also get an incredible amount of content for a very reasonable price, so don’t miss out on this game.

Gameplay: Simple to play, but incredibly addictive once you become hooked.

Graphics: The art style is colorful and adorable.

Sound: The soundtrack is catchy and features a diverse range of great tracks

Daigasso! Band Brothers

Daigasso! Band Brothers

A rhythm game on the DS might sound like a strange choice but it definitely works. Utilizing every button and the touch screen things get way more hectic than in any guitar hero or rock band game. The midi tunes sound great and there’s enough variety to keep you playing for a long time. As long as you can get over the language barrier that is.

Gameplay: If you like rhythm games then you’ll love this.

Graphics: Not much going on visually but then again that’s not the focus.

Sound: Some really great tunes

Beat Da Beat

Beat Da Beat

Blast away aliens that move and attack to the beat of some great Dubstep tracks in this addictive bullet hell shooter. The game is no walk in the park and with four difficulty settings as well as ten ships to unlock it will keep you busy for a while. Being a fan of EDM obviously helps, but the charming pixel art style visuals and relentless action is what kept us coming back for more.

Gameplay: As simple as dodging bullets and grabbing coins.

Graphics: Retina searing colors and flashes, but very nice overall.

Sound: Your personal music taste will determine whether you like the Dubstep soundtrack or not

BeatBlasters III

BeatBlasters III

BeatBlasters III shows a lot of imagination but has the gameplay to back up the wacky plot. The developers have gone for a quality over quantity approach with each level looking totally unique. It takes a while to get used to the controls but using a controller makes a big difference. If you are looking for an interesting fusion of platforming, puzzle solving and rhythm based action then grab yourself a copy.

Gameplay: A very interesting fusion of genres.

Graphics: The 2D visuals are packed with detail and imagination.

Sound: The music is not my favorite genre but it matches the theme of the game

WarioWare: Touched!

WarioWare: Touched!

The touch screen controls work perfectly and there are plenty of micro games to play but for WarioWare veterans this game will be over all too soon. There’s some great ideas here but even with the tons of extras the longevity suffers a bit. It’s still a good game however and perfectly for killing a few spare minutes.

Gameplay: Good but don’t expect that much variety.

Graphics: Not much better than Gameboy Advance but fits the game style.

Sound: Some catchy tunes

Warioware, Inc. Mega Microgame$!

Warioware, Inc. Mega Microgame$!

Wario Ware Inc, Mega Microgame$ is a fun diversion but not everybody is going to appreciate its madness. If you can live with a game where the visuals are retro to say the least and very little is required beyond pressing one or two buttons in a five second period then you’ll love it.

Gameplay: Five second bursts of fun.

Graphics: A interesting mixture of good and (intentionally) bad.

Sound: Sounds like getting mixed signals from two radio stations at times

KickBeat Steam Edition

KickBeat Steam Edition

I have played many Rhythm action games over the years and KickBeat is definitely one that is as entertaining to watch as it is to play. Defeating opponents to the beat of the music is exhilarating stuff and it is made even better by the smooth animations. If you tire of the included music you can also import your own giving this game a lot of replay value.

Gameplay: A unique take on the Rhythm action genre.

Graphics: The visuals have been enhanced for the Steam release and look better than ever.

Sound: Six new tracks boost the complete list to a total of 24 tunes
