Rage Runner

Rage Runner

Rage Runner is quite a challenging title and, as the name implies, it can be frustrating at times. Having to weave your way through obstacles at high speeds while changing the orientation of your craft takes some practice and completing all nine of the levels is quite an achievement. If you are looking for a 3D runner that will really test your skills you should try Rage Runner.

Gameplay: Quick reflexes and some trial-and-error is required, but overall this is an addictive and challenging title.

Graphics: Good, but not too distracting.

Sound: Depends on whether you like dubstep or not

T.E.C. 3001

T.E.C. 3001

T.E.C 3001 is a game where you learn the ropes within a few levels, but can spend hours perfecting the moves. The speed of the game is exhilarating and while there is some trial-and-error involved it is also very addictive. If you are looking for a game where you can just jump in and get the adrenaline flowing without bothering with storylines or cut-scenes then T.E.C 3001 is a great option especially for its price.

Gameplay: Fast paced and challenging runner that can become quite addictive.

Graphics: Simple, but visually striking without interfering with the gameplay.

Sound: Some fitting tracks and sound effects, but nothing really memorable

Drift Girls

Drift Girls

Drift Girls is simple to play, but mastering it takes some skill. In addition to the addictive action on the track, the game also features 32 different girls to date, which makes for a nice diversion between races. Overall, it is a very polished title and the quality is very high considering it is free to play. Best of all, the in-app purchases are not essential to having fun.

Gameplay: The game packs enough features in both the racing and dating departments to keep you hooked for ages.

Graphics: Beautiful manga style visuals for the dating sections and impressive 3D races.

Sound: Good music and great voice acting, but the way the women squeal during races can be a bit much

Race The Sun

Race The Sun

Race The Sun is one of those games that is almost impossible to stop playing after you become hooked. It seems very simple at first, but after you get used to the pace and unlock a few upgrades the real fun begins. The different challenges and gameworld that changes daily also adds some longevity. For some pure arcade thrills Race The Sun comes highly recommended.

Gameplay: Addiction thy name is Race The Sun!

Graphics: Simple but very effective.

Sound: The music is thankfully unobtrusive but can become slightly repetitive

Riptide GP2

Riptide GP2

Riptide GP2 has the feel of an old school arcade racer and it is easy to get sucked into the experience. The game features some good looking tracks and plenty of awesome stunts. Although originally a mobile title, the developers went the extra mile to make it look good on PC and have also removed all micro-transactions. It is quite an addictive title, but suffers a bit from repetition in the later stages of the game.

Gameplay: Challenging and addictive, although it does become a bit of a grind.

Graphics: Quite impressive considering the mobile roots of the game.

Sound: The soundtrack fits the game, but might not be to everyone’s taste

Aquiris Game Studio announces their homage to the classic racing genre

Aquiris Game Studio announces their homage to the classic racing genre

Remember Top Gear? No, not the television series, but the Super NES racer that was developed by Gremlin Graphics back in the early 90s. Well, Brazilian developer Aquiris Game Studio certainly remembers this classic, as well as Lamborghini, Lotus, Outrun and all the other retro racing titles. It should come as no surprise then that the studio is putting their love for 8 and 16 bit racing games to good use by developing their own title called Horizon Chase

Radial-G : Racing Revolved (Tammeka Games)

Radial-G : Racing Revolved (Tammeka Games)

The phrase “anti-gravity racing” might be synonymous with the Wipeout series, but the demise of Studio Liverpool (Psygnosis) left a void in the market. Surprisingly enough, no developers seemed very eager to pick up the gauntlet until Tammeka Games revealed Radial-G: Racing Revolved. There are some very talented and experienced individuals behind this title, so we jumped at the chance to check out the Early Access version of the game

Carmageddon: Reincarnation (Stainless Games Ltd)

Carmageddon: Reincarnation (Stainless Games Ltd)

Believe it or not, the original Carmageddon was released more than 18 years ago already! However, it only took me a few minutes after booting up Reincarnation to realize that Stainless Games Ltd has nailed the feel of the game. Anyone who can remember gleefully plowing through throngs of pedestrians while smashing rival racers to bits will find that Carmageddon: Reincarnation offers the same level of vehicular carnage

Coffin Dodgers (Milky Tea Studios)

Coffin Dodgers (Milky Tea Studios)

It is hard not to crack a smile while knocking old people off their mobility scooters as you dodge U.F.Os and zombies in a bright, cartoony setting. It sounds horrifying, I know, but then again Coffin Dodgers is a game that doesn’t take itself very seriously. This kart racer is currently available on Steam Early Access and pits seven retirement village residents in a race to the death against the Grim Reaper himself
